Start-up Event of PPRD East Information Campaign in Moldova

Start up event of the PPRD East Information Campaign in Moldova took place in Chisinau on March 25, 2014 in the School of Safety under the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova. The event was visited by Mr. Gennady Barbu, Deputy Head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova, Mrs. Marieta Koleva, Policy Officer, DG ECHO, Mr. Sergej Anagnosti, Team Leader, PPRD East Programme, Mr. Sergiu Gradinaru, , PPRD East Programme National Coordinator in Moldova, representatives of NGOs, schoolchildren and journalists from national media.


After welcoming words by Mr. Gennady Barbu and Mrs. Marieta Koleva, Mr. Volodymyr Kuznietsov, PPRD East key communication expert, announced the beginning of the PPRD East public awareness rising information campaign, its goals and instruments and made the presentation «Public awareness new creative solutions and tools, new information technologies».


During the presentation PPRD East informational materials package was presented including Family Guide for Emergency Preparedness and Response, Fire Safety Poster and Social advertising video.


He told in details about areas of implementation of the PPRD East Communication strategy and made the strong emphasis on the active participation of the representatives of national media in its realization. The main goals and achievements of PPRD East Programme was also represented in the presentation.


In his presentation Mr. Dmytro Khilchenko, PPRD East Senior Communication Non-Key Expert, on examples of modern visual and interactive approaches demonstrated the effective ways to attract public interest to understanding of “behavior-based safety”.


A guided tour for a group of schoolchildren and interview for Moldovian TV channels were held in the School of Safety.


The PPRD East Information Campaign is provided in order to increase awareness of wide public on Civil Protection, Disaster Management and Disaster Risk Reduction issues with strong emphasis on improving the culture of individual behavior and participation in prevention, preparedness and response to disasters.
